about

A lonely soul with a pale face stares off the side of his exosuites' railing. A container of bismuth-tea hangs by the edge of his fingers, the steam slowly flowing from the lip of the liquid to the nebula in the night sky.

The first call that day came in over the vidphone, the signal blaring loudly into the Traveller's ear.

--//"A greeting. Who is it, and what do they want?"

The neural-receiver crackled to life. This model had always given him trouble, but the cool and sterile voice of the other end's messenger came through all the same.

--\\"WE ARE A PAYING CUSTOMER. AN OFFER IS WHAT WE WANT TO GIVE."

He considered this turn of events. He hadn't taken a job in ages; and he did need something to pay the rent eventually. Living isn't cheap.

--//"I'm intrigued. Go ahead: I'll need details of some description."
--\\"WE WANT TO FIND SOMETHING THAT HAS BEEN LEFT UNTOUCHED BY CONSCIOUS HANDS FROM THE DISTANT PAST. IT IS ZEDWARDS FROM THE BOTTOM END OF THE ALPHA SECTOR. THERE IS A TIME LIMIT ON THIS OFFER; AFTER WHICH IT IS NULLIFIED."

The standard in this sector: Shadowy payments for shadowy actions. He considered the idea; tea slowly brought to his lips in a focused and ponderous sip.

--//"I'll take it. Send the coordinates of a meeting place as soon as possible to my navcomm."

The line fell silent. A notification came up on the VR.

//[{PAYMENT PROFILE ACCEPTED. COORDS RECEIVED}]//
//GOOD LUCK: TRAVELLER.//

As his VR unit powered down, the engine of his craft purred to life, giving the room behind him a fuchsia glow. A glint in his vision opened the cockpit door, and his hands brought the bird to liftoff in a maestro's gesture.

The smell of ginger wafted up from the cup on the nebula-side railing. The job wouldn't take that long; he thought.

It was a simple and calm way to make a living. He liked that; but the heavy-caliber plasma pistol affixed to his hip said that things didn't always go that way...

Gab.riel Harrison, New York

Springing from the realm of Video Production and New Media; Gab.Riel is an experiment created by Noah Kantor to explore how visual art can translate into synthesized musical forms. Each concept album in the series is written as a short story, whose scenes are translated into emotionally resonant electronica tracks.

To put it simply: Sit back, take a listen, and see a new world with your ears.
